Vehicle description
Super clean and ready to rock, this 1981 GMC Sierra Grande 2500 4x4 pickup is a tough hauler that's a load of fun to drive, but is also extremely practical. With a modern 5.3L Vortec V8 with fuel-injection, it's plenty sporty, but it's also capable of hauling big loads when you need it. If ever there was a time to make your hobby vehicle work double duty, it's today, and this slick white long-bed 4x4 is as at home at the cruise night as it is at Home Depot. Stylish vintage trucks don't get much better than this dialed-in Square Body. Trucks are a booming segment of the classic car hobby, and thy bring a reasonable price of admission for the amount of power and style they can supply. However, the flip side is that finding a good, clean truck that hasn't been worked to within an inch of its life can be fairly challenging. It appears that this particular GMC Square Body has never been a work vehicle, and the condition of the super straight bodywork, particularly the bed, bears this out. With factory-quality gaps and great panel alignment throughout, the great-looking, top driver-quality paint suggests that someone has always loved this truck. You won't be sneaking around with that high-impact white finish, but it stands up to scrutiny and really shows well, especially when under the lights or out in the sunshine. It's not a perfect presentation, but any imperfections that can be found upon closer examination are minor, and quite frankly a claybar plus buff-and-wax job would do a lot of good in restoring some former glory. Or just drive it like is and know that even as it sits, this is one of the better-looking Square Body GM trucks on the market today. For a custom look, they added a billet grille behind the bright red 'GMC' emblem up front, oversized rubber fender flares over the wheel wells, step bars at the sides, and a giant diamond-plate and chrome rear bumper out back. The glass is tinted and the lenses over all the lights are crystal clear, while all the chrome - including the front bumper, side mirrors, and door handles - shines super bright up against the white finish. It also offers a giant bed that's been lightly dusted with a black spray-in protectant (admittedly, it could use a bit of clean-up) and houses a giant toolbox and matching spare, so if you actually want to use this GMC like a real truck, you won't need to hesitate. The black interior is neatly restored and upgraded as well, and now includes a couple uber-comfortable, low-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather hides that look sporty and wear like iron. The seats are split by a wide center console that folds up for a third passenger and flanked by stock door panels, transforming the cab from utilitarian grade to well, a sportier and more comfortable utilitarian grade. Everything feels modern as well, starting with the gorgeous, crack-free pad wrapped around the stock dash, the Dakota Digital gauges inside the stock bezel at the helm of the cockpit, and that new, leather-wrapped billet steering wheel mounted atop a tilt column. Note that this truck is also equipped with cold factory A/C that's powered with modern R134a refrigerant, seatbelts, dual fuel tanks, a footprint gas pedal (yeah buddy!), as well as an aftermarket Alpine AM/FM/CD/AUX/SAT stereo system that sounds great. Modern and comfortable, the cab of this GMC is a great place to be. Power comes from a modern, rugged 5.3 liter Vortec V8 that's nearly a perfect transplant for a rig this size, and which has been a mainstay in pickups for quite a while. Neatly transplanted for better than OEM functionality, it actually looks like it was born in there. The engine bay is detailed nicely, punctuated with that famous Vortec intake manifold and big cold air intake tube and cone filter up front, and all the modern components fit tight against the block. With fuel injection, it starts quickly and runs beautifully and can be serviced at any Chevy dealer with no issues at all. A 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission was also transplanted in, and power steering and power front disc brakes mean this truck is a blast to drive. And thanks to the overdrive transmission, this is a nice highway cruiser that gets surprisingly good gas mileage for a full-sized pickup. Underneath, the chassis is very well finished and detailed, with a throaty Flowmaster dual-exhaust system this truck has a fantastic soundtrack. The suspension is heavy-duty and the ground clearance is almost second-to-none, which really emphasizes those flashy American Racing alloy wheels wrapped in 265/70/17 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials, Trucks like this burly GMC represent a fantastic way to get into the hobby, and this one is ready to cruise today. It's tastefully modified without being too obvious about it, the interior is incredibly comfortable, and you just can't beat a fuel-injected GM motor for reliability. Call today!
