Vehicle description

1935 Chevrolet EC Standard 2 Door Sedan "The '35 Chevrolet Standard is an interesting case on several counts. Introduced in mid 1933 as the Standard Mercury line, Chevrolet's price leader junior series, (Model EC), was a totally different car than the top of the line Master DeLuxe, (Models ED and EA), in 1935. The Standard sported a shorter wheelbase, 107 inches versus 113, and a little less power from the 206.8ci stovebolt six, getting along with 74hp while the Master DeLuxe was rated at 80hp." Macmotorcitygarage.com For consignment, a 1935 Chevrolet EC standard 2 door sedan showing 12,200 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This steel bodied street rod version is packing a 454ci V8, a wild paint job, and a clean interior. Exterior The stand out hood features a background single stage cream paint hosting very nice yellow to orange flames that reach all the way to the cowl and the drama continues as that cream is sent in band of color to encircle the cabin, bordered by orange and cutting through the red, adding enormous visual interest. As a street rod, the car hunkers down on Chevrolet Rally wheels, 14-inch in front and 15-inch in back, with a slightly raked stance and arching fenders connected by a wide running board. The rounded roof hovers over tinted windows and the rear deck has mock bullet holes suited for a moonshiner if this car was just a few years older! A fantastic, ornate grille fronts the car between red dot LED headlights, the metalwork and paint being in great shape. Imperfections include some cracked paint in a body bend, scratches, touched up blemishes, light roughness on the decklid, bubbling, chips, and a cracked window. Interior The design is carried to the interior where red tweed door panels feature a cream stripe bordered in orange, continuing on the rear side wall and transferred onto the front floor mat. The seats appear to be mid late century versions with tweed front surfaces and vinyl sides, buckets in front and bench in back. A sporty black steering wheel fronts the red painted dash with instrument cluster centrally located and housing a myriad of Stewart Warner black faced gauges with matching red needles. On the floor, a Lokar shifter extends up to the driver with dark red carpet cleanly covering the floor and a ribbed headliner presenting a bit of flair over our heads. Drivetrain An aluminum plated firewall reflects the 454ci V8 under the hood with Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor over and Edelbrock intake. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is behind it, sending power to the 10 bolt rear. Headers begin the exhaust process and the car runs on a 12 volt system. Plenty of polished parts in the engine compartment make this one show worthy. Undercarriage Some surface rust and a few drops of oil show up on the underside which is otherwise driver quality and clean. FlowMaster mufflers accompany the dual exhaust on their way to a rear exit and brakes are configured as front disc and rear drum. Leaf springs are employed front and rear as the main suspension components. Drive-Ability The cabin is comfortable up front and from the looks of things, cozy and comfortable in back as well. The 454 comes to life without hesitation and emits a proper roar as we roll the EC onto the test loop where power is abundant, handling is quite good, and braking is on point. The tires are nearly 30 years old so we're not going crazy to test speed and agility, but we do find that all systems on board operate as they should and with a fresh set of tires, this red flyer will be ready to rock. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Although more than 42,000 EC Standard Sedans were made in 1935, this is only the second one we've represented and this is likely a rare model in the street rod world as well. This is a nice build with a big engine and room for four. The flames on the hood set it apart in addition to the model and what you have here is a unique, turnkey show car and cruiser. 12EC013512 12-Buffalo, NY Assy Plant EC-1935 Standard Series 01-January Build 3512-Sequential Unit Number
