ONE-OF-ONE........... 1940 Oldsmobile Series 70 Woodie Wagon, This is the only 1940 70 series "120" wheelbase" Oldsmobile woodie wagon known to be built.. All other 1940 Oldsmobile woodie wagons were produced on the shorter series 60 "116" wheelbase" platform.. Mid-state Body works of Waterloo NY was commissioned by Oldsmobile as the coach builder.. Most believe this particular 1940 Olds woodie wagon was the prototype for the following year where all wagons were built on series 70 platforms... Found in a Chambersburg Pennsylvania barn in 1988.. by a local collector named John Norman, He knew of the car for years, And when word of the barn's imminent demolition reached him, A deal was struck to purchase the rare Oldsmobile. Last registered in 1958, The car reportedly needed just new oil and a set of points (along with, presumably, a fresh tank of gas) to start. Since its 1988 acquisition, this Oldsmobile woodie has undergone a thorough restoration, which reportedly required nearly two decades to complete. Much of the car's interior and exterior wood trim is original, as are many of the interior panels.. Beautifully restored, Stunning Ebony Black paint compliments the gorgeous woodwork throughout..
