Vehicle description

1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop "The Willow Lane Literary group meets every Wednesday. We're very active in the town's cultural life. So is our librarian, Winifred. But Winifred hasn't been herself lately. She's changed. Her mind seems to be a million miles away, (cut to announcer). Willow Lane hasn't seen Winnie since the '65 Deluxe Mustang, she practically designed it herself, with embossed vinyl seats, luxury all around, a new five dial instrument cluster, sport steering wheel, the list goes on and on. And so does Winnie. Right over to the wild side. Put a moment of truth in your life, with the Deluxe Mustang '65. Best year yet to go forward. Mustang!" Script from one of many television commercials for the 1965 Mustang. For consignment, a 1965 Ford Mustang hardtop showing 1,396 miles but the true miles are unknown. Some go fast goodies, interior updates, and a wild color sets this '65 Mustang, one of more than half a million produced, apart from all the others. If you're ready to join Winnie the librarian on the wild side, take a look at this fantastic ride. Exterior The paint is compliments of House of Kolor Kandy Paint and its two stage Violet Metallic and for all the Mustangs that have graced our halls, we can't remember one in this shade of purple. Beyond the color however, it's pure Mustang, iconic and instantly recognizable with headlights set back behind a grille adorned with the famous running horse over a straight chrome bumper, marker lights below. Out back, the three part tail lights that nearly every American can recognize and a horse emblazoned gas cap dead center on the latch panel behind a distinctive short decklid. 14-inch American Racing Outlaw I wheels veer from stock configuration and hold staggered size tires. All typical emblems are in place and along with the metalwork and paint, are in great condition with a few touched up chips as the only exterior imperfections. Interior Standard door panels present cleanly with handsome patterns worked into the black vinyl and essential hardware. The bucket seats have been reupholstered with soft black cloth which also covers the rear bench and smooth surfaces prevail over the original vinyl. Up front, a black rimmed Lecarra steering wheel leads to a gauge cluster backed with a machine turned faceplate with attractive white faced gauges that have black needles with red tips. In the center is a custom autosound stereo with AM/FM radio and 6 CD changer. Emerging from the transmission hump, a Hurst shifter and an added console with cupholders and an armrest. Black carpet is protected by Mustang branded carpeted mats, the headliner wears the seat material, and the trunk has a Mustang branded rubber insert and all present cleanly. Drivetrain The showy exterior gives way to a showy engine bay with most components polished to a point on this 289ci V8 with a Crane cam, a Street Dominator intake, and a Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor. A C4 3-speed automatic sends power to the Ford 8" axle in back housing 2.80 gears while drum brakes are found on all four corners. Yes, pop the hood because this engine is show worthy! Undercarriage Driver quality underneath, mostly uniformly black. Minimal surface rust and a few drops of fluid on the oil pan and the transmission pan. An area of coated but rust through, and an area on the frame with some uneven filler are noted as well. The dual exhaust goes from Doug Thorley headers to FlowMaster mufflers before exiting behind rear valance. Suspension is the standard coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. Drive-Ability With performance intake and exhaust, this is a heavy breathing 289 that also sounds great and takes us through the test loop with plenty of power, surefooted handling, and decent braking which we note makes the car pull hard to the right. Out in the sun, the paint glistens with a deep purple shine, presenting a showy pony that's an absolute eye catcher. And other than the heater blower, all other functions operate on the car as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. If you're looking for a classic Mustang but wanted something just a bit different from the normal, stock look, this unique presentation might be the one for you! Fantastic paint, a clean engine and interior, and more curb appeal than your average show car, this '65 Mustang should be a consideration and one to add to your stable. Happy days in a purple haze are ahead for the new owner of this classic beauty! 5T07C165227 5-1965 T-Metuchen, NJ Assy Plant 07-Mustang Hardtop C-289ci 2bbl V8 165227-Sequential Unit Number WARRANTY PLATE BODY 65A-Mustang Hardtop, Standard Vinyl Interior COLOR K-Silversmoke Gray TRIM 26-Standard Black Vinyl Buckets DATE E13-May 13th DSO 23-Philadelphia AXLE 6-Ford 8" 2.80 Conventional TRANS 6-C4 Automatic BUCK TAG 3-Welding Bay # E13-May 13th 5T07C165227-VIN 65A-Mustang Hardtop, Standard Interior K-Back Up Lights 26-Standard Black Vinyl Buckets K-Back Up Lights B-Unknown V8-289 Emblems Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).
