Vehicle description
All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance. We can assist with financing and shipping as needed. This attractive 1966 Corvette is a fairly rare Laguna Blue coupe with all its factory fiberglass. The drivetrain is numbers-matching including the 327ci 300hp engine, Powerglide automatic transmission, and 3.36 Positraction rear end. There is also a nice array of options including power steering, power brakes, and power windows. The original Protect-O-Plate is present as well. It all makes for a head-turning collectible midyear that anyone can drive and enjoy. The POP shows this car was delivered to Lynn H. on 6-30-66 by Ken Wilson Chevrolet of Vestal, NY. As a side note, this dealership had a very iconic building that was unfortunately torn down recently. However, this particular Corvette lives on and appears to have been kept out of harm’s way. The frame is solid throughout while and the no-hit fiberglass body is in excellent condition. This is an original code 978 Laguna Blue car which is a great color with a hint of green that is hard to capture in photographs. Note only 2,054 Corvettes were produced in this one-year-only color. The paint is old but remains free of any cracks, bubbling, or other such issues. Similarly, the bumpers show some fine scratches but without any pitting or peeling. You will also find a set of reproduction knockoff wheels with BF Goodrich whiteline tires that really add to the look. The engine is the original HO-suffix 327ci 300hp V8 which does not appear to have been out of the car. The block casting date is E 31 6 (May 31, 1966) while the Flint engine plant stamping shows 0613 (June 13, 1966). It remains stock though it has been converted to a spin-on oil filter. Note the ignition shielding is included but has been removed for easier plug / wire maintenance. The transmission is the original Powerglide automatic which accounts for less than 9% of Corvettes for 1966. It shows a build stamp of T0531D (May 31, 1966). The drivetrain continues with the AM-code 3.36 Positraction rear end with a date stamp of 6-14-66. This is a desirable ratio for any non-overdrive Corvette. Additional equipment on this car includes power steering with a new cylinder and control valve. It is also equipped with power 4-wheel disc brakes, making the car easy for anyone to operate. Note the parking brake is disconnected. Recent service includes a new water pump, fan clutch, and headlight motors. The black interior features bucket seats that were recently redone with materials from Al Knoch. There is also a tilt steering column with a teak steering wheel. The door panels have been redone and the dash pods look terrific without any cracking. All the gauges work with the exception of the clock. Also functional are the heater/defroster, wipers, washers, lights, turn signals, and horn. Same with the power windows and AM/FM radio. Inside the rear storage compartment you will find a jack and lead knockoff mallet, while the glove box contains an owner’s manual and the previously mentioned POP. This C2 has a lot going for it. It is a great looking example that has not been smashed, re-clipped, or otherwise modified. It also has a numbers-matching drivetrain and original Protect-O-Plate along with a number of desirable features. All this in what has proven to be the most collectible Corvette generation of them all.
