Vehicle description

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1977 Ford F150 Supercab pickup truck. The F-100 half-ton pickup was the mainstay of Ford's light truck lineup throughout the 1960s and 1970s, until it was slowly superseded by the F-150, also known as the "Heavy Half" because of its slightly larger payload than the F-100. These days, high-quality restorations of vintage Ford pickups aren't that hard to find, simply because they made so many to start with. But this 1977 F-150 is truly one of a kind: it's an extended cab - a rare option in the 1970s, which added 22 inches to the wheelbase. And when it was restored, it was built on a short wheelbase, with a custom-made extra-short bed, keeping the overall length to that of a short bed pickup. So you get the extra interior space of an extended cab with the utility of a truck bed - plus easy maneuverability thanks to the short wheelbase. Paint and body present to a nice driver standard, and the truck is finished in its original color of Bahama Blue. Excellent bumpers, grille, glass and trim. The underside has never been painted or undercoated and although there is very light surface rust, there is zero known rust-through or pitting - we really appreciate that it's not hiding anything so there will be no surprises. The bed is finished with a color-matched rhino liner. The wheels are Ford 15-inch alloy rims from a 1990s pickup, and they look right at home on this truck. Interior presents nicely with door panels, dash, steering wheel, headliner and seat upholstery all in good condition. The rear seat folds flat for a large cargo shelf if needed. All lights, gauges, wipers, horn, original AM radio, etc. are working. This is a well-optioned truck with a 460 cubic inch V8 mated to a C6 heavy-duty automatic transmission, plus power steering and power brakes (front disk). The engine has been upgraded with headers, a high-rise intake and MSD electronic ignition - it starts easily, runs great and produces very satisfying big block power and torque throughout the rev range (and sounds great doing it). All steering and suspension components were replaced during the restoration, and thanks to the addition of front and rear sway bars, this example drives, rides and handles far better than most trucks from this era. Extended cab short bed trucks are a very popular format today, and this is perhaps the only vintage pickup with this configuration on the market.
