Vehicle description
1978 London Taxi. Made in England by Car Bodies, this is the London Sterling, which is the luxury version of the London Taxi. Known as a (for)Hire Car, it was the limousine version than a taxi. It has the cloth interior and carpets as opposed to vinyl seats and rubber floor mats. The cars were made in England. This one has the 2.3 Ford motor and C3/C4 automatic transmission(for export to the US). It is the same as the Mustang II, Ranger pickup and Pinto motor. I didn't have any problem getting any parts for it. It has the divider glass and the jump seats. It has new tires that have never been on the road(only rolled the car around here). I had the head rebiult and shaved. The head was installed and torqued. Intake and exhaust manifolds installed also. It has a new water pump, timing belt and tensioner(installed). It needs the alternator, compressor and carbureter installed. I also have a carb kit. Probably less than a week of work and it would be a driver again. It has factory air. The car was originally a royal blue but has a silver respray(pretty flat now). Pretty nice interior but has 2 mice holes in the headliner (corners at the divider) in the drivers area. I keep thinking I'm going to get it running and shoot it black but I keep getting other cars and projects ahead of it. Thought that I'd put it up for sale now while I'm working on other projects. Might be able to get to it next summer(we'll see). I got a pair of earlier style tail lights from England that I like better than the ones on the car(will come with the car). I was going to make my double decker a motor home and pull the taxi behind it. Plans have changed(don't know if I'm young enough to get all my projects done). The price I put on it is a starting point. Would consider selling the pair. But am happy using the double decker as yard art. 97one 22one 82oneO Please, no calls after 9:00PM. I'll drop the ad when the car is sold.
